This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.
Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver's license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. Employees of Facility Services are considered essential staff and must report to work when the university is closed for emergencies. This position is required to participate in on-call, call back duties and snow removal, which can include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Under established circumstances will respond to emergency dispatch calls within set timeframes Administrative or Campus Living buildings.
Complies with all job-specific safety requirements and procedures identified in job-specific hazard assessments (required training, PPE use, standard operating procedures, etc.). Proactively participates in accident prevention efforts and responds to injuries and accidents promptly to modify activities and prevent further accidents.
About the Department/College
The Northern Arizona University Facility Services Custodial and LOS Departments are currently hiring one (1) full-time benefit eligible Learning and Development Analyst. The Custodial and LOS Department goals are to provide a clean, attractive and healthy learning environment. About the Position
The Learning and Development Analyst position reports to the Assistant Director of Maintenance and Operations in Facility Services. This position onboards new employees evaluates, plans, and delivers employee training programs to promote effectiveness; facilitates continual employee development; analyzes and compiles training results to satisfy organizational needs; works to ensure continual organizational improvement and identifies innovative training options for new hires; and monitors training and development programs to ensure employee success for the Custodial and LOS Departments. This position will assist and advise the Assistant Director of Facilities and Maintenance in fulfilling Facility Services' mission to Northern Arizona University by practicing sustainable maintenance and operations methods, ensuring a clean, healthy and safe work environment, providing excellent customer service, adopting industry best practices, following policies and procedures, and empowering the custodial workforce. The successful candidate will be required to work 6am till 3pm - Monday through Friday. Responsibilities Include
75% - Personnel Training and Professional Development
Onboards new employees
Gathers and analyzes data/information related to learning and development cases to formulate recommendations
Produces reports and communication that interprets information for key stakeholders
Understands and applies knowledge of appropriate handling of employee learning and development information
Plans, develops, and delivers training programs to orient employees, support necessary skill development, and facilitate an understanding of university resources, policies, and processes
Designs course plans and materials; contracts with vendors as necessary to fill gaps in training programs
Conducts assessments to determine departmental needs and identify training options
Monitors employee development programs, analyzes results, and crafts updates to support employee success
Establishes and oversees departmental training requirements, classes, schedules, and records
Conducts the New Employee Custodial and LOS Orientations
Trains all new employees to ensure that all NAU custodians clean consistently and fully understand the process expected
Leads training classes and events as scheduled
Seeks out new training for benefit of the entire Custodial and LOS team
Responsible for organizing and teaching classes or groups and arranging for classrooms, equipment, and instructional material to be used by class
Develops an annual training schedule to ensure that all custodians receive on-going refresher training
Provide standardized process and regulatory compliance training in the field
Integrate new processes, chemicals, and tools into the training curriculum and train others on their safe and effective use
Administer on the spot retraining and/or maintain records recommending individuals for remedial training classes
15% - Quality Assurance and Control
Conducts quality and process inspections across campus
Assist in managing campus wide quality control programming, ensuring that supervisors and Assistant Managers are performing quality inspections accurately and consistently, as well as issuing quality reports, and maintaining/modifying QC forms as required.
Oversees equipment condition, distribution, scheduling, and monitors usage
Perform compliance field audits to identify retraining requirements
Performance equipment and supply inspections across campus
Monitors and supervises the activities of the Custodial and LOS team by setting clear expectations and utilizing quality checks to ensure a consistent quality of service
10% - Other
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Requires an Associates or undergraduate bachelor's degree
2-4 years of relevant experience
Current and valid driver's license required upon employment.
*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to learning and development practices, policies and procedures.
Two years of custodial/groundskeeping experience with a university or other large organization.
One (1) year training experience in a formal setting.

Knowledge
Intermediate knowledge of learning and development tools, procedures, processes, policies, and concepts, such as onboarding, training, programs, and needs assessments
Knowledge of industry trends related to employee learning and development

Compensation
Salary range begins at $48,000. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report
Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
